Steps to Get Started as an External User of the MiRC
1. Fill out a questionnaire about the work you wish to do at the MiRC Cleanroom and a member of the MiRC External User Team will contact you within one business day.
There are two different job categories for research work at the MiRC. You can do the work yourself at our facility (On-site job) , or you can contract with us to perform the work for you (Remote job).
2. You will be assigned what Georgia Tech calls a Principal Investigator or P.I. This person is your host who will help guide you through the process of establishing a project and becoming a cleanroom user.
You will be assited in your actual cleanroom or laboratory work by our staff of process engineers.
3. After a discussion with your P.I. about your project and equipment needs s/he will send you a contract and budget proposal for your approval.
- If this is a Remote job, you do not need to complete the following steps.
- If this is an On-site job, please continue.
4. To become an on-site user we need you to fill out the following paperwork. This is required for each on-site researcher or student who wishes to use our facility. This paperwork allows you to obtain a Georgia Tech Buzzcard, which is an identification card you will need to access our cleanroom facility. Full instructions and downloadable versions of the necessary paperwork are available at the link below.
5. Sign up for Cleanroom Orientation.
6. Arrange for training on the specific cleanroom or laboratory tools needed for your research.
